March 4th Bishop’s visit and Confirmation
Confirmationt
The Parish of Glengarry will host an Episcopal visit by Bishop John H. Chapman on Sunday March 4, 2012. The service will take place at St. John’s Lancaster. Time: 10am. A Confirmation class will start by February 1st; and those interested in participating should speak with Fr. Manassé or the Wardens, or Sheldon Carr, prior to January 27th. Details of the classes are to follow. The story: those who have been baptized as infants or young children often reach an age when they wish to take ownership of the promises made on their behalf by their families and godparents or sponsors. This affirmation of faith is called confirmation. At Confirmation also, those who transit from one Christian family to the Anglican family are received, and the Bishop lays hands and prays for them. The laying on of hands is an invocation that candidates receive the Holy Spirit. Confirmation is open to anyone from the age of 11 and onward.
